Dental care is one of factor contributing to quality of human life. With increased rate of older people in korea, it¢¥s recommended oral health status that their dental care need but lack for dental care system until now. The tooth mortality due to the periodontal disease & root caries is highly increased. The aim . of this study in older population comprised of 60 years above (76 individual in Gang-Rung and Dong-Hae city, 81 individual in Gwang-Ju city) is to evaluate that how far concerning to the root caries related theirs of oral health status.
The obtained results were as follows;
1.Mean no. of dental caries was 3.84 & no. of root caries was 1.52.
2.Between root caries factor and residential district, place of residence, smoking, DMFT index, No. of tooth with 4-6mm gingival recession and 6mm above gingival recession had seen a weak relation. but have seen strong relation no. of dental caries.
3.Between 0-3mm gingival recession factor and no. of tooth with 0-3mm pocket depth have strong relation, but has a strong negative: relation of DMFT index.(p<0.001)
4.In 4-6mm gingival recession factor, residential district, place of residence, smoking, caries prevalence, No. of dental caries, DMFT, and No. of root caries have a weak relation. Sex, filling tooth, No. of tooth with 0-3mm pocket depth have weak negative relation.
5.In 6mm above gingival recession factor, No. of dental caries, missing tooth, DMFT, No. of root caries have weak positive relation.
